Acer R240HY won't play sound

I am using an HDMI switch which I think may be the problem, but i am not sure completely. It is a switch between my PC and Xbox, and when it switches to the Xbox i want it to play sounds. I turned the sound all the way up and it is using HDMI. I do know that it is capable of playing sound because my monitor before hand i used the exact same switch and HDMI. Can anyone help? Thanks

Then why is there a volume option?

Where? I have no idea, but the monitor has no speakers so, volume button or Not, you won't be getting audio out from it
