1440p screams fail... See more on the sides? See less on top and bottom.
Plus I find it funny that people think gsync will make framerates better, it does not.
I'm waiting for better monitors. Gsync and this low res isn't worth 1300..

What the Hell are you talking about? A 21:9 monitor has the same vertical resolution as your typical 16:9 monitor. You have 2560x1080 ( compared to 1920x1080 ) and 3440x1440 ( compared to 2560x1440 ).

If you want to complain about 16:10 opposed to 16:9, that's a whole 'nother thread and conversation.

There is always a premium to new tech. I would suspect as more of these types of panels/monitors come online that there will be a price drop though I'd suspect that it will not be as drastic as most would like - and not for a long time.

If the market couldn't support the premium then the price would have dropped; but it hasn't. That's just economics. And the hope that people had that AMD's Freesync would be competitive and cause a price war has not materialized either.

GSync, in my opinion, is just a better implementation of the adaptive sync solution.

I don't know, I don't think it's been long enough to know if the market really can support the high price, due to the length of time it has been out and the number of available products. I feel at the current prices it ultimately can't. Adoption so far has been pretty low. But G-Sync is something that can justify a premium, just not that much of a premium IMO. For the difference in price between the MSRP of the Predator X34 and and what I paid for a U3415W, I can get second high end video card for SLI, and do other upgrades. To me that investment is much more worth it. Again, a modest charge is fine, just not too much. If the street price is about $950-1000, then to me that is acceptable -- $1300 is too much.

All I can say is that I received my X34 last night - and it is impressive. Aesthetically it is both elegant and refined while looking powerful at the same time. Everything it contains, from the LED bottom lighting to the bezel, to the stand is well thought out and unobtrusive without being understated.

Image quality, response, color reproduction, and resolution are all what you would expect - excellent. I am driving this with a single GTX 980ti running games like Shadow of Mordor, Arkham Knight, Far Cry 4, and Planet Side 2 at the highest settings without issue. The GSync makes this panel silky smooth.

About the only complaints I have are that the footprint of the stand is large so you really need a deep desk to put it on, and the OSD controls are a little ungainly and awkward to use. But aside from that gaming in 21:9 is much more immersive and 1440p is a nice upgrade without killing a graphics card like 4k can.

Seriously considering picking one of these up. I just upgraded from 23" 1080p and a HD 7970 to a Dell U3415W and a GTX 980. As is, I'm getting massive screen tearing, V-Sync or not. I've still got to see though whether that's due to a weird glitch whereby when installing the GTX 980 (removed the HD 7970), it became the "second" GPU in the system according to some deep registry settings in Windows, despite the lack of any other GPUs anymore. My eventual goal is to find a VESA mount to stack the U3415W on top of the X34, and put a pair of 27" monitors stacked on the side for a sort of 2x2 arrangement.

Just ordered mine!

1 Acer X34 Predator together with a Asus GTX 980 TI STRIX 6 GB DC3 OC GAMING! Hell yeah!

Hi, i have a question about this monitor and it's older "brother" the acer XB280HK, 4k, 1ms, with g-sinc.

I'm building a new 4k capable gaming rig. I will put in Asus z-170 delux motherboard, intel i7 6700k, 16 GB ddr4 ram, and 2x gigabyte G1 980ti graphics cards in SLI.

which model would you suggest, pureley for gaming and some web browsing, 4k movies/tv series, and in the future Nvidia tablet connected to a tv. If the x34 is better for gaming i will save up enough money to buy it, so money is not the problem.

thenks for your answers.

The X34 is not a 4k monitor. It's 1440p. That said you could DSR from 4k to 1440p if you really wanted to. You're not going to see a higher resolution monitor at the size/aspect ratio of the X34 for some time. So if you can live with a 16:9 4k monitor there are plenty of really nice ones out there. I thinks its really a matter of personal choice though. I don't really see the difference from 4k to 1440p but 21:9 makes a huge difference in terms of immersion. And at 1440p your GPUs won't be crying at Ultra resolutions.

You want a monitor that doesnt exist. IPS panels don't go to 144MHz.

And, lets face it, nobody can tell the difference between 100MHz and 144MHz anyway.
