Purchased the Viewsonic vx2758-c-mh Monitor. Says you can achieve 144hz at 1080p resolution over hdmi. This monitor only has hdmi inputs, 2.0 and 1.4. No Displayport sadly. I have a Radon Fury and cannot get it to 144hz only 120hz. Any suggestions???

Solution

It doesn't.

It's an AMD driver issue as far as I'm aware. I have an XG2401 and can get...

Yes i have, went into the radeon settings and put it to 144hz. Saved and said this monitor can't support this resolution. Is there a settings somewhere in the drivers i need to change? By default gpu scaling was on, and i could only get it to 60hz with that on, Turned it off and was able to get to 120hz through the display settings and selecting adapter and list all modes, 1080 at 120hz is the highest i could get it to.

Thats what alot say, but there have been things disproving this. Either way, the monitor has a 2.0 port which i am using, but i believe the radeon fury is only 1.4. not sure if that matters. since its the output. But i dont see why they would design a monitor, this monitor is fairly new btw and with only hdmi and 144hz and not being able to achieve it.

Didn't know it mattered which hdmi cable i used. Thought a hdmi cord was a hdmi cord lol. I am using the one that came with the monitor. So i figured it would b able to achieve the res and refresh rate. Would a display port to hdmi cable perhaps fix this issue?

Been through the menus dozens of times, only thing i found that i can change the performance of the monitor is the input lag and response time. I have seen nothing in the menus for refresh rates or resolution, other than what its currently running at when i open the osd.

It's an AMD driver issue as far as I'm aware. I have an XG2401 and can get 144 Hz over HDMI with NVIDIA cards, but with AMD cards if I try to set resolutions above 120 Hz it gives me the same message "Settings are not compatible with this monitor" etc. You can try overriding it with the Custom Resolution Utility, but I didn't have any luck personally.

Solution

Of course it would be AMD drivers lol. Well i dunno what im gonna do. who knows if they are ever gonna fix it, if this is the issue. Probably just gonna return the monitor and get something with displayport. Thank u for the help.
