Action center causes CPU temp to double.

Hello community once again.

So... my CPU temp is stable at low 30s until the action center opens. After a lot of trial and error and component troubleshooting I do not believe it to be my MOBO, nor my CPU cooler.

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQm7h4FaO5M) I made a quick video using my phone. you can watch if you want, but all it is showing are the temps at idle being in the low 30s with a spike here or there in the 50s for about 3 minutes. Then, right before action center opens, the temps go in the high 50s low 60s and stay that way never to go below the high 50s.

I've restarted my computer many times and this trend happens every time. There is nothing in action center at all, no notifications and nothing to be attended to. It might not have anything to do with the action center but I don't know where to start solving this issue. anything will help.

Also Thanks to Eximo and Blackbird For all their help and time =D.

If action center is really problematic or you just dislike it as I do here is a guide to disable it.

You might have a bad install of windows as well and something is bugged and causing your cpu to run full load. Might be worth a reinstall.

I have seen people swear up and down that bad installs do not happen but i have witnessed it quite a few times. I have probably installed windows around 2500 times a year for 7 years so that might also be why it pops up from time to time for me.
It sounds like when your CPU gets put under any kind of load the temp shoots up. It isn't action center by itself. A program isn't directly responsible for temperatures, just a percentage of the overall CPU usage.

First place I would start is by removing your cooler, redoing the thermal paste, and installing it again.

If you get any kind of air bubbles or sections of your CPU that are metal on metal contact with no paste you are going to get huge jumps in temp as the CPU comes out of low power state.

Let me know if there is any change.

So, I have installed this CPU cooler a few times already and have tried various methods of installation and have replaced the cooler thinking something might be defective. (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3269550/problem-cpu-cooler-cpu-reaches-93c-prime95.html) The last three attempts at installing the CPU cooler have given the same temp reading / trend.

Before action center opens, I can open many programs such as chrome, paint, word, uplay, steam, and Sony Vegas then close them with the temp going back to the idle temp. But, once action center opens, I cannot go back to the idle temps of the low 30s. It's definately possible, and more likely, that it is not action center that is causing this, it's just the trend that I have seen.

***update, let me install an extra cpu cooler that I have and see the temps that I get

Okay, so i reinstalled my older CPU cooler, an EVO 212.

The idle temps were very cool, staying in the low 30s, but, like you said, as soon as anything even remotely utilizes the cpu, it would shoot up into the 60s and task manager being constantly on unlike the other programs which I would just shot off.

Using prime95 the 26.6 version I would get temps in the 80s and then using the most current version of prime95 the temps would go into the mid to upper 90s!! I re installed my evo 212 and got a significant decrease in temps at an almost constant 66C for prim95 26.6 version.

Lol, i feel like an idiot now, Thanks Faktion. I'll try a few methods of thermal paste application on the newer cooler, but it seems like the "pea / grain of rice" method is not working.

Thanks again.
