Hi there,

I am currently facing the issue that after my computer has been on for a few hours, the "Activate Windows" ah heck in the bottom right of the screen pops up. When I go to the activation page, this is what shows up.

When I press the Troubleshoot button, it finds my digital license that I have tied to my Microsoft account and gives me an activate button. Once I do this, it's activated again.

If I restart my computer while it still has this activation issue, it fixes itself. Yes, I have a legitimate copy of Windows 10; I got the free upgrade when I was running Windows 8.

Please let me know if you have encountered this issue yourself and/or know of a fix! Thanks :)

I had 8.1 Pro, yes. I recently upgraded my system and cloned my Windows drive to a 256 GB M.2 SSD from a 512 GB Samsung SSD.

Not that I know of, but I do use System Mechanic. (Not pro, just normal) I use Windows Defender for security, I don't like using third party stuff like Avast or Mcafee.

Did this upgrade include a new motherboard?
If so, that is the reason.

You should have done this before the hardware change:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html

After the fact, you need to call MS and plead your case.

I already went through the reactivation process and it worked fine. It's just the occasional popup about activating.

If it was actually activated, you wouldn't be seeing that message.

Either way, there is no special method to fix that, other than calling MS.

How long ago did you upgrade? Go to settings, Update and Security and finally click on Recovery. Do you see any options to revert to an earlier version of Windows. I would go back and proceed with activation and then upgrade.

I'm sorry to say this. but you need to go back to windows 8 and activate your windows. 4:45 pm
Your product key won't be accepted for activation in windows 10 . 4:45 pm
my windows was activated already 4:46 pm
Yes. 4:46 pm
But it got change due to your cloning. 4:46 pm

sounds like your issue.

On a side note there is a registry change that can change the interval of that check(SPP) but not sure about the side-effects. It would just be a work-around. You want a fix.

Nope, no option to downgrade.

As I said, this only happens occasionally and Windows is definitely activated. The popup isn't showing right now because it is activated.

Interesting. I've never seen this before.
I can't imagine why it is doing this.

This is the only OS installed in this system?

Yep! Here's my other SSDs:
