I recently purchased a dell xps 13 which came with windows 8.1 which I immediately upgraded to windows 10. After the upgrade the windows key verification box kept coming up as though my win 10 wasn't activated. So I entered the key for I guess win 8.1 that came on the laptop originally and I immediately get the error message *unable to verify, contact support helpline* So I thought maybe Microsoft is making you pay extra or maybe my key is wrong, so I went to the systems page in control panel and did the change product key and entered the same key which worked, and the systems page says my copy of windows 10 is activated. So why am I still getting this windows key verification page every 5 mins that wont let me verify my key even though its already activated.

That popup / window is some kind of malware aparently, see link below. Any idea where you got it? Just curios, doesn't really matter. Did it come into Windows or in browser?

Try some antivirus / antimalware programs to see if it can easily be removed, if not, reinstall Windows 10 directl.

The main idea of the malware is to fool user to allow remote access to the computer, and probably charge you from fake "tech support", leaving the remote access component to your computer to try to steal anything valuable later on, like...

The main idea of the malware is to fool user to allow remote access to the computer, and probably charge you from fake "tech support", leaving the remote access component to your computer to try to steal anything valuable later on, like passwords and all that.

So the malware right now doesn't aparently have remote access features yet. Your product key might have leaked, but Windows 8 OEM upgraded into Windows 10 is tied to the hardware, so it should continue working fine as Windows 10. If you were to try install Windows 8.1 with the key on another computer, it might stop working at some point if the key is sold forward.

I thought i might be some kind of malware although it wasn't detected by my nod 32. Any ideas of how to get rid of it other than a factory reset maybe.
