Im trying to decide if i should go for active or passive 3d for my
ps3dgaming/movies and maybe pc gaming if my computer allows it.
i got a amd 6870 vid card and a 955 be cpu 8 gigs of 1333. also can i use a monitor or is a tv needed for ps3 gaming? searched google for 3 days now cant really get an answer from those searches. If any one can help (with personal experience) please do😀

Active a million times over, passive means you only get half the vertical resolution as alternating lines of pixels are used for the two images, and there is alot more ghosting.

3D isn't worth using on an AMD setup since hardly any games are supported and there are no community made fixes for it. PS3 games in 3D will be crap also as they are depth buffer, the 3D effect is barely noticeable and when it is its not at all impressive.

Could u dumb down ur answer? I'm not that tech savvy in the first place😛
And i read allot the past 3 days that a couple of games on the ps3 are worth while in 3d like crysis2,CoD black ops and uncharted 3.(never played them)
How does the ps3 handle 3d movies in your opinion? if u have experience with it? Also i got glasses does active 3d glasses have glasses that fit over normal glasses?

The PS3 doesn't have the processing power to push proper 3D like the PC uses, real 3D looks like real life, you have an accurate amount of depth and objects themselves have depth. 'Fake' 3D looks like a pop up book, things are flat but at different depths.

If you are able to do crosseye 3D, it looks like this.

Sadly Crysis 2 ard 3 use this type of 3D on PC, Google 'Crysis 3D' if you want to read post after post of people in uproar over how bad it is. Console games that don't use this type of 3D in favour of the proper 'good' 3D, will either take a galactic FPS drop or reduce graphical quality to make up for it. If you want a good 3D experience I'd suggest getting an Nvidia card and any of the Asus monitors that support it.

I haven't watched movies in 3D a whole lot, so I can't really comment on that.
