Ad-Aware

First, have any of you tried Ad-aware SE yet? I've been reading about it
over at Lavasoft forums but am interested in opinions from readers of this
group as well.

Also, (and I have also asked about this at the Support Forums at
Lavasoft), I went to download the latest reffile for Ad-Aware 6, the one
of 11.08.04, and got a 'hey, this has never happened before'. File
download reached 99% and the button below changed from "Abort" to
"Finished". Thought 'that's odd' but clicked on finished and went to do a
scan and noticed the date of the reffile was the LAST download I
did...odd. I closed up the whole program to do something else, then
reopened it to do a scan and got a message before the program opened that
the reffile was corrupted. I can't DO a scan at ALL now. I tried to
download the new one once again and the same thing (going to 99% and
deciding it was done) happened.

Are there any A-AW 6 users reading this that this has also happened to?
This couldn't be anything do with my newly installed hard drive could it?
Also, if worse comes to worse, if SE seems to be working well for people,
I can just uninstall version 6 and get the new one I guess. I just hope
the problem is at Lavasoft's end and not mine (which happened once with
some Norton virus defs that wouldn't download properly).

Yesterday's download caused Ad Aware on my PC to crash. Twice.

So I tried to download today. No crash.

I got SE today and it seems to work fine.

Never had the problem you described with the previous version.

I've used it & it seems OK!!

I deliberately run Ver 6 before installing & running SE. SE came up with
some extras that Ver 6 hadn't found.

You don't need to unistall Ver 6, as the installation of SE takes care
of it for you!

HTH

John

I installed it yesterday. I did not notice any difference in SE. It might
scan a little faster.

it definitely scanned in more depth and therefore took a little longer and
came up with 30+ undesirables on desktop and 15 on Notebook
