Well, I've played through Icewind. It rules/ruled.
Diablo 1 was awesome.
Diablo 2 was neat. (trying to be 'positive' here)
Baldur's Gate 2 was OK.
Baldur's Gate 1 was OK.


What's the next good ones on the list? Ne1?

I hear ya, but I don't know. I heard there was something good on the way, but I'll have to get back to you on what. Can't remember the details. I'll ask the friend who told me...

Did you play Lord of Destruction for Diablo2 though? I think it's a great addition to a repetitive but addictive game.

Nope. Haven't played that one, or the Diablo 2 one.

If it's like Heart of Winter, it's only good if you *really* like the original game. That's what I hear about the D2 expansion too.

it has some gaming issues that will probably make it one of the worst rpg out to date....damn i really wanted this one but chuck yegger's crew really dropped the ball on this one...it rocks sloooooooowwwwly and not to far....:)

sorry ejsmith2 just wait for me to get this FOOT out of my mouth. Since I gotten use to the game play it is a brilliant game! Its like a hybrid Diablo II but thats as close as it gets. Would tell u more but guess what I'm going to do........:)

But who want's to pay monthly for a game. I like paying only once. And thats usually after I had the "Demo" version for a month. If it can keep my attention after a month then I go out and buy the real thing.

I haven't played AD&D in a long time. Can't find a good DM. I don't really like the new 3rd edition. It screws up all second edition players.

Oh i don't know, maybe they just turned every F*cking thing around. It's all screwed up. It's very,very confusing. I don't like the new system. You used to want low thac0's and low AC and low initiative now all of those you want to be high. It's just to confusing.

Yeah, that screws me up too. I haven't really 'read' the 2nd/3rd ruleset, so I don't know what all changes are in there.

3rd edition is cake. Takes one session of gameplay and you have it all figured out...

I've played it once, I haven't played it again and it's been about 2 months so I've forgotten most of it. I don't know. I think it makes perfect sense for someone who has never played before. My DM is a dick. He keeps throwing in things like a deck of many things. I know what it is yet I always draw 7 or more cards. I like to gamble. So far that deck has only screwed me once.

I kinda like 3rd ed. I hadn't played 2nd ed. in years and got with a group playing 3rd. The rule changes did mess me up for a while (especially AC and THAC0), but I really like the way multi-classing is handled in 3rd, as well as skills--much better IMO than 2nd.

Once you play a couple sessions, it's just like the good old days!

I've played some of the BG2 expansion--it's just more of BG2, except that the added skills are cool, especially the thieves' "use any item" skill. I have a level 15/26 kensai/thief wearing magical full plate and wielding Carsomyr (the Holy Avenger). I really liked BG1, but after playing BG1,2,TOB and IWD I'm kinda sick of the interface. Time for a new look.

I'm interested to see if Neverwinter Nights will be any good.

I *just* downloaded the infinity editor this weekend. It rocks! I used to get sick of having to switch weapons to kill a troll, or a clay golem, or the demilich. Now I only have to choose between a war hammer or a dagger. But I cheat like heck, so everyone is dual wielding.

The deck killed me on the first card. Really sucked.

Anyone know any good online resources? PCgen for example doesn't work on WinXP since it doesn't have JAVA, so I'm looking for an alternative....

Lucky for me I drew a card that let me act as if I'd never found the deck. It kinda sucks because I didn't get the experience and other items but when you are stuck in a void what other chance do you have.

Ok so who's the DM? I'm assuming we'll be playing thrid edition. I will be a lawful good paladin. any others want to play. The DM will make all the rolls and make up our stats. we just pm him or explain in this thread what we want to do. Come on I thin it'll be fun.

No cheating! In BG2, Throne of Bhaal, characters get special abilities as they reach high levels (the 20s). One thief ability is "Use any Item", which allows the character to literally use any item, regardless of class/alignment/ability score restrictions. Some limitations are still in effect, however, such as the restriction that you can't wear magical armor AND a ring of protection. But the ability DOES allow a kensai/thief to wear magical armor and use Carsomyr! Theives need to be level 24 I think to get the ability.
