Add Favorites

sorry to ask such a simple question but how do I make a thread a favorite.
In the little control panel there is a heart symbol to access favorites but I cannot find how to assign them. the help function just says that you can, not "how to"

Top right of each thread is the "add favourite" and "mail notification" buttons. Although once you respond to a thread it will show up a "remove flag" icon instead.

At the top right of your reply I see a thumbs up and down to rank the message. At the bottom of my post there are an edit, quick reply, quote and reply buttons. Way up top there is a disable email notification and delete flag. On this page there is no "add favourite" Am I even on the right page? I don't see anything on the forum list either.

Hey,

I think he means at the top right there is a heart with a plus sign on it. That's how you add it to favorites.

Yeah,

Use that to make favorites on other posts.

as soon as I select the red flag with an X I get booted out of the post and back to the index. then after I find the post again the heart is there and I can make it a favorite.
It seems like somehow a flag is preset that says I have made all posts favorites...
