Question Add Old M.2 to New PC - M.2 contains files

My old laptop is being replaced by a new tower that I built. I have Win10 OS installed on a brand new separate 500gb SSD. I am wanting to take my old M.2 2tb (which was in the old laptop) and install into the new build to continue to use the files for the new build. (There are no issues with the M.2’s functionality)

The M.2 was NOT the boot drive for the old laptop but just had gaming, videos files, etc. I inserted M.2 into new tower build. The M.2 shows up in Disk Management but how do I access the files without reformatting this drive that contains old files that I want to keep. I am unable to access data at the moment.

The old laptop still boots and works fine on the HDD that contains Win10 OS. (Just no longer has the M.2 gaming drive installed)

you could buy a m.2 enclosure to usb then accsess it

after installing the m.2 drive into the enclosure, and plugged adapter into USB-C port, the drive showed up, however it was not accessible. Basically, my only available option was to wipe the drive completely and lose all of the files. Instead, I used a 3rd party data recovery software, EaseUs. I was able to access the files that I wanted to save through the EaseUs program, and finally copy them to another drive. Lastly, I wiped the M.2 drive and allocated it to a new drive letter.

thanks for sharing i just downloaded Easeus Backup and did a windows clone and upgaded my drive to 1tb from 256 gig the easeus profram extended the drive by magic excellent programs.
