Hello, I've been looking around for answers and didn't get an exact answer to my question, only performance issues, and "might be fine"
I know that using different ram speeds will cause the mb to run at the minimal speed for dual channel, but what about the ram sizes?
If I add 16gb ram stick to 8gb I already have (2133mhz ddr4) will the mb use max 8gb from the 16gb stick or will grant me 24gb in total?
I heard once that ram can work in multiplications of 2.. and 24gb is a multiplication of 3.. (kinda 2, but for 12gb of ram stick, which is non-existant).
Plus, looked around, didn't find much, but for the upcoming games (cyber punk, and also star citizen (which is a deadly coded game which wants 16gb minimal) should 16gb total be fine?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

You should have 24gb assuming your system can run 16gb sticks. They will run at the slowest speed and timings. If they are wildly different speeds I'd manually set the speed before installing the new stick. You might need to reset the bios if you get hung up.
