adding a memory module

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I want to be sure of what I'm doing. My computer has a 1GB RAM module and a 2GB RAM module. I want to install another 2GB RAM module in place of the 1GB RAM module for a total of 4GB's RAM. Are the presently installed modules marked so I can tell which is the 1GB module? If not, how can I tell which is which? Thanks for helping an incompetent up-grader!

You can give it a try, easiest to pull the sticks they should have a label on them telling what they are, if not not, boot with one and check if it's a GB or a 2GB
