Hi Folks,

I am no RAM expert. Currently still running my i5 9400f/ 6700xt setup and given and lately as I play KCD2 or ETS 2 with heavy mods gives me headache for ram usage. I'm already at 15-15.6 GB of ram while having closed everything, I have toyed with the idea of throwing in another 2x8GB pair of RAM sicks to fill up all 4 slots.

Anyone having experience with mixing ram speed and timing? I'm going for same brand atleast. Kingston HyperX.
Since this old cpu is "locked" to 2666 mhz, it shouldnt impact too much? 3200 mhz ram one stick 8gb is only 20 $ here. I can't find anything less.
My current config :

KHX2666C13/8GX

KHX2666c16/8g

although these sticks are still mismatch they work fine with my motherboard H370 advertised speed 2666 mhz

so another two sticks i plan to upgrade:

2x KF432C16BB/8

Simple answer? No, don't mix and match. Pick the same exact kit.

You should look across the forums to see that pretty much all threads talking about instability issues are due to mixing and matching ram kits.

my motherboard H370
H370 is the chipset, what is the make and model of your motherboard? BIOS version for your motherboard?

I’d agree, get more memory of the same type and part numbers. Mixing can work, I have an AM4 pc with Adata 3200 CL 16 and Adata 3600 CL 18, it’s running at XMP settings for the 3200 part and is stable.

At Jedec speeds it should work though it’s a risk, the biggest risk being to your wallet.
As DDR 4 memory is becoming harder to find it also becomes more expensive. Can you stretch your budget to 2 x 16GB?
