So I have a samsung 950 pro 512gb pcie nvme in my system, and I have everything on that so far. I plan to buy a 850 pro 512gb for storage and moving everything into that... and I was just wondering do I just need to plug it in and just start moving everything?

Hey there.

It's basically like installing an HDD. Since this is going to be a secondary drive, you'll need to initialize it before you're able to partition and format it. Here's how to do it:
How to initialize or write a signature to a secondary hard drive or Solid State drive in Windows
How to partition and format a WD drive on Windows and macOS.

Other than that, transferring media files and docs is OK, but transferring installed programs is not really recommended. It would be best if you could uninstall them and install them again on the new SSD if you want them there.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
