So I built a new computer. I put in an optional fan in my Corsair 750D Airflow edition right above my CPU. The fan is a
Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Single Fan.
I plugged it in to the "CPU OPTIONAL" slot on my Motherboard
(Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel Z170 ATX Motherboard ATX DDR4 NA Motherboards (GA-Z170X-GAMING 5)
Simply put, the fan just doesn't turn on. It is plugged in all the way and the integrity of the wire itself has not been compromised. What could be the cause of this?

Solution
Hi,
boot into bios and look for FAN settings. May be the fan is just turned off altogether there. Do any other fans work in that header? does the fan work in another header?

there are many variables here...try those and report back with the results 😉

Cheers

I am not sure how to check within my BIOS if the fan is enabled or not. I am using the Z170x Gaming 5, to be more specific about my motherboard.

And yes, all other fans that are plugged in happen to work aside from this one.

Try moving this fan to other fan headers to see if it works. If it doesn't spin when connected to other headers, it's probably broken.

EDIT: it is very improbable that the fan would be disabled in bios, so I leave it for later. If the fan does work in other headers, we'll come back to that 😉
