Question Additional monitor on laptop?

Hello guys! I just want to make a quick question, regarding my laptop. I have the Lenovo Legion Y540 with the 1660 Ti , 16GB DDR4 RAM and core i7-9750H.
I absolutely love it, but judging from the fact that I mostly use it as a "desktop", I was thinking of maybe buying a 144Hz monitor. I want to buy the AOC C24G1 monitor.
Will I be able to connect it using HDMI, set the laptop aside and use it as a desktop on my new monitor?
Will my games be able to run at 144Hz with the proper settings?

Display port certainly.

The laptop can output via HDMI, but I don't think the monitor can receive via HDMI.
