Hi,
I'm needing a new laptop to replace my broken Dell 2-in-1 i5 6500U....work is contributing a bit, I do like gaming (but also have I have a PS4 Pro and a Ryzen 5 1600x / RX480 on desktop PC) and have lots of steam games so thought I'd get a gaming laptop.

My budget and shop choice by work allows for the choice between a:

ACER Nitro 5 AN515-55
IntelCore i5-10300H
15.6" Full HD 144MHz screen
8 GB RAM DDR4
512 GB SSD SATA
NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti

OR

ASUS TUF FA506II-BQ058T
AMD Ryzen 5 R5-4600H
15.6" Full HD 144MHz screen
8GB RAM DDR4
512Gb PCI-E SSD
NVIDIA GTX 1650Ti

What is the better option? I do a bit of video editing, PShop and music DAW too.

Any advice? Cheers.

Thanks, but it comes down to these 2 that I have to choose between due to the supplier where my work gets their laptops. So if you can advise me on what to get that would be really helpful. is the 1660ti much better then the 1650ti and worth going for at the expense of a i5 worse CPU? ... or is it better to have the Ryzen and a 1650ti...Ill game on it occasionally but I want that to be good, TBH most of my gaming is on PS4 pro but wanna have a nice gaming laptop and something usefull for everyday, Pshop and Premiere....

thanks.

I'd personally go for the stronger CPU if those are your daily uses. You won't lose too much between having a 1650TI vs having a 1660TI. But I would get at least the Ryzen 5 4600H but the Ryzen 7...
Mods - I think I posted this in the wrong section - can you move it to laptops / gaming? Cheers.

Done.

Personally I'd say neither. If I were using a laptop for your uses, I would go with the Ryzen option over the Intel one, because the Ryzen 4000 series are near desktop quality CPUs. Though there's far better choices out there than the Asus TUF laptops. The HP Omen (which I have) and Lenovo Legion are far better selections in that price range. Though if you want an AMD GPU, the MSI Bravo is a pretty decent choice as well.

Thanks, I want the option that is more usefull...I do have a dell QHD monitor 95% sRGB I can use externally for editing an PShop....

Ive been looking at benchmarks and the i5 doesn't hold up well against the Ryzen...but then again the 1660ti is 50% faster then the 1650ti in gaming from what I've seen (is this correct??) ...so I'm at loggerheads! Ah decisions, decisions...I wanna get 3 years out of this realistically.

Believe me, I ran into the same problem. It's not an easy decision to make. I finally did manage to find one with both the Ryzen 4800H and a 1660TI, which is why I went with the HP Omen.
