Hi all, I am doing an upgrade to my pc, and Im looking into getting an RTX 3050 but I have one question.

Will my PSU been good enough to run it without problem? its an "EVGA 600GD Gold". it has been running my 1050 ti without any issue but, i understand that uses a lot less power.
On the box it also says "provides up to 50A / 600w on the +12V rail".

my other pc specs that may have power affects:

i5-12500 + 16GB DDR4 RAM
ATX motherboard with b660 chipset

Will this be good enough to run a 3050? I can send photos of the PSU box if thats needed.

Thank you, Sam.

Yes, it will work just fine as they both have a recommended PSU size of 250W. The issue you will run into is that the RTX 3050 requires an external 6 pin power connector where the GTX 1050 ti doesn't require external power at all if I remember correctly. The only real differences are the 6 pin power requirements of the RTX 3050 and the fact that the TDP of the RTX 3050 is 90W versus the 75W of the GTX 1050 ti.

thanks for the reply, im 99% sure i have a 6pin power connecter thats not currently being used so that isnt an issue. and your right the 1050 ti doesnt require any other power pins just plug in and go.

i just want to make sure that my psu has enough power to run the 3050 with everything else. Are you saying im good to go with the 3050?

EDIT: just checked ive got x2 6pin connecters with an extra 2pin adaptor built in so that can be included to make an 8 pin connecter.

I think that's a great point you're making, I almost made the same mistake once! Lucky for me, though, I was able to return the PSU I had originally bought and got a different one that fit my needs for the same price.
