I have toyed with the idea of picking up a laptop from Newegg. Right now I'm happy with my home-built desktop that still works good. I was wondering if I bought a Lenovo or Asus laptop from Newegg if it would come with a recovery disk, so I could put the laptop back to it's factory condition in case things got screwed up.

I record guitar, do some simple photo editing, web surfing, word processing, a little video editing, stuff like that.

I think the first decision I would have to make is whether to buy a laptop or stick with a desktop.

And then I would want to buy something that I could download the drivers for, because I like to wipe the drive and start with a clean install of Windows and then add the drivers and my programs.

Now days they typically don't come with a recovery disk, instead Windows has a recovery partition. Like you, I do clean installs, but the recovery partition is there. You also can make a recovery disk/flash drive if you choose.

Generally they don't come with a disk.
They provide the function for you to create your own (USB), to return it back to out of the box condition.

A much better solution is simply a fresh OS install, and install the needed drivers.

Some laptops like Lenovo will have a recovery button that accesses a hidden hard drive space to do a factory reset.
That, I think is a moot point if you do not have a need for the portability that a laptop gives you.

If you do not need portability, a desktop will be better from a price/performance point of view.

What are your current hardware specs?
Perhaps a simple upgrade might be in order.

Yes I always prefer to do a hard drive wipe and a fresh install of the OS. But getting the needed drivers is the issue.

I almost have to see if I can get the drivers first, and buy the laptop second.
