Advice on CPU temps

Overclocked my i5 4670k to 4.4 Ghz at 1.2V. It seems stable, but running LinX with 12GB brings my temps to around 95-100.

Is this way too hot?

Using a 212 Hyper Evo. I just lowered it back to stock at 3.8, with "auto" voltage settings. I'm still hitting the same 95 degrees running LinX.

Do I just have a horrendous chip? Not sure.

I have reapplied it twice now. I thought it was my application but it seems perfectly fine when I was checking it the first time, the second time was applied the same way so I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

the hyper 212 is a nice cooler, but I'm not sure if it is up to the task of properly cooling an overclocked haswell chip. Anyone else have a link to some benches to prove me wrong(my understanding is that if you want to overclock haswell at all, you need at least a high end air cooler or closed loop water cooler if not custom water cooling).

it's a snap on type fan. And the inside of my case is quite cold, it's not even that warm when the test is running. Only place where I can feel some warmth is on the back side of the cpu fan heatsink (the side with no fan on it). The side with the fan is blowing chill air through.

However, something I was confused on, which direction should the fan be pointing? Is it pulling air through the heatsink or past it?

Currently my configuration looks like:

top of comp.
|..X.........|
|.............|
X X::.......|
|............X front
|............X
bottom of comp.

Sorry for the ASCII pic, but the X represent my 5 fans (two on the front, one on the back, and one large one on the top). The CPU fan is in the middle, and I have it facing the left. The reason is because the RAM is to its right, and I can't flip it (too big). Is this right? (I could move RAM over, but according to the maximus hero guide, I should place the RAM in "red" slots, which would not allow it to fit if the cooler was adjusted).

Possibly, but even at stock it's running at 95 degrees when stress testing?

EDIT: I lied, "stock" for my motherboard actually pushed it to 3.8. I set it to 3.4 and now it runs at 71 when stressed.

Can I not even push it up a bit beyond stock?

So is it better to flip my configuration around? If so, my RAM would have to be placed in the "black" slots, something that the motherboard does not recommend. Will this make a difference?

My motherboard is the Asus Maximus VI Hero, and they recommend placing RAM in the "red slots".

Alright, so I flipped them, and it seems like it helps a bit.

Running at 90 degrees or so overclocked to 3.8 during the LinX. Should I still be worried about the temps, can/should I try pushing it higher, or am I just stuck at stock speeds?

Thanks a lot for the help though!

EDIT: Oh, I've noticed that the voltage scales up to around 1.75 atm. while running a stress test. Seems like average CPU temp is around 90 degrees celcius, but it's relatively stable. Also managed to play random games yesterday perfectly fine, is the stress test temp. just an indication of badness?
