I assume that you mean the CPU and/or motherboard socket were damaged in a way that with this hardware combination you have a dead RAM channel.

IF this is anything near modern and still relevant then you could knock it down to office or kiosk use with a single channel, as I assume at least that much works. Otherwise, this thing is as good as trash in relation to the skill to fix properly against just ponying up for the new CPU. This also assumes that the LGA array isn't bad on the mobo.
