Hi there!
I run a photography company and up until the last year have worked alone. My current setup has been MBP connected via USB-C to a Lacie 2big Raid HD running raid 1, with this in turn daisy chained to another Lacie 2big HD running raid 0. The second backing up the first and also acting as a time machine for my MBP. This may be overkill for most, but it's obviously the most important aspect of my business. I also take an offsite backup of each of my sessions just in case.
In the last year the business has grown and I have added a number of staff. Currently I have them connecting to these HDs through my MBP. It has now got to a point where this is causing too much hassle as this setup has left all other staff unable to connect to the required HDs if I am away from the office with my laptop.
So what would the best solution be? Would it be possible to get a cheap NAS and connect the Lacie via thunderbolt/USB to it and at the same time still keep it connected to my MBP via USB-C? That way (I hope) to keep the speed of the direct connection for myself when doing all the edits but still allow other people to access the files when needed if I am away. Would this work or am I missing something? If so can anyone recommend a suitable NAS to use?
Or could the Lacie just be connected in the same way to my router via USB?
