Hello,

I'm looking into building my first gaming PC (ideally something capable of running games like Fallout 4, Bioshock Infinite at a reasonable frame rate on medium or high settings at 1080p), and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the parts I've picked out so far (e.g. potential issues, recommendations, and so on). My base budget is about $1500 (Canadian), but I am willing to go up to about $1700 CAD if the build includes a monitor, operating system, keyboard/mouse, wireless network card, etc.

PCPartPicker part list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/d7sv6X

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($254.45 @ Vuugo) ***I'm not going to be overclocking, so I definitely want a non-K processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($27.35 @ Vuugo)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Gigabyte GA-H170-D3HP ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($131.25 @ Vuugo) ***I've read less than ideal reviews of ASUS customer service and MSI, and this seemed to have similar benchmarks at a lower cost point to the other motherboards I was comparing it to
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($79.99 @ DirectCanada)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($112.98 @ DirectCanada)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($117.97 @ DirectCanada) ***I find that I run out of hard drive space very quickly, so a large hard drive is important
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($394.99 @ NCIX)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case ($74.99 @ NCIX)
or NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.88 @ CanadaComputers) ***I'm fine with either, since both seem to have good cable management and plenty of space; I like the colour of the S340 more, but the design of the H440 more
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($101.26 @ DirectCanada)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($116.98 @ DirectCanada)
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($44.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Monitor: Asus VS228H-P 21.5" Monitor ($142.98 @ NCIX)
Keyboard: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($19.99 @ NCIX)

Total: $1620.17 CAD

Thank you; any help is appreciated!

It's a poor quality power supply, so I'd swap that out for something else. You also don't need a CPU Cooler, as the locked CPU's come with an Intel heatsink that performs fine. It might also be beneficial to wait for the full release of the new 1000 series cards since a)it will drop prices on the 900 series, and b)you might be able to get a 1070 for not much more money that will completely outperform the 970

Now that you mention it, I think I will end up waiting for the release of the 1000 series, since it isn't far off. Thank you for the feedback!

If GTX1070 price remains sensible after release go for it or go with GTX980
