Hello,

As the tittle says, I need some suggestions regarding the choice of the cpu in my new pc build.
The problem is that I have been an intel fanboy like forever but since ryzen 2nd and 3rd gen came out, this might change.

My pc build will be the following:
PSU - Corsair cx650 bronze
GPU - Nvidia RTX 2060 Super 8GB
Motherboard - ASUS Strix x470f Gaming
RAM - 2x8GB HyperX 2400MHz (old rig)
Storage - 2x256GB Kingston SSD(old rig)
Display - 28'' Samsung 4K (old rig) + generic 21'' LCD (old rig)

Now the real question is which CPU to get. I have been thinking about AMD Ryzen 5 3600, AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel i5 9th generation (i5 9600k for example). Ofc the motherboard would be different if an intel processor but something in the range like the motherboard listed above.

Looking forward for any input.

Solution
If you go AMD Ryzen then you'll need new memory as 2400mhz is too slow, needs to be 3200mhz as it makes a big difference in gaming (FPS and/or FPS dips). I'd recommend AMD Ryzen currently due to the hyperthreading for longevity and upgrades (AMD is coming out with 1 more generation before it uses a new socket).

I see,
And what about the model? Is the ryzen 5 3600 better than the ryzen 7 2700X?
I would presume the 3rd gen is better eventhough its specs are lower?

Either would be a good choice but if your doing any kind of streaming/editing then grab the 2700X for the additional cores/threads. For gaming performance alone I would snag whichever is cheaper but if your going B450 make sure the BIOS has been updated enough to support the 3600.
