I purchased a SSD with AES hardware based encryption with the intent on using it on a desktop PC. Since it was done in hardware there'd be no perform loss according to the vendor.
So after buying the Samsung EVO 840 I find that this unit is really designed for the notebook market. All of Samsung's information says to enable it with the password for the HDD in the BIOS,
On my desktop I have never seen a HDD password, only BIOS Setup or Startup. so how would one turn on this feature if our bios'es don't support it ? I went to a local PC shop and they showed me a recent UEFI bios and it still had the same legacy stuff the original AMI bios had back in the 90's.
What are my options at this point ?
