Affordable Router for stable internet connection for gaming

What router do you guys suggest for a stable (no lag spikes)

Right now I am using a TP-Link Wireless N Router WR840N

I begin to experience lag spikes when 1 or 2 different devices start streaming youtube at 480p-1080p, or other activities that require a strong internet connection.




Other info:
1. My internet plan is 15Mbp/s DSL connection
2. I use a Wireless connection because wired would have to cross walkway and space is a premium here since I am living in a condominium

Multiple streaming WIFI devices will be a performance problem no matter what router you have. But an AC1900 router like an Asus RT-AC68U or Netgear R7000 could allow you to move devices to 5Ghz band.
To get consistent performance, you may have to try powerline network adapters instead of WIFI. In a condo, there is so much competing WIFI that it is difficult to get good performance.

Lets say 3 other devices are streaming HD content on YouTube, on my current setup, that will cause definitely cause me lag spikes on my laptop , but if I were to use a power line adapter and use a wired connection to the adapter through an Ethernet cable, will I still experience lag spikes? or will it reduce/remove the lag spikes?

Plus, is it really worth it to buy a power line adapter rather to than just run a long ethernet cable around the place?

Plus2x, will I benefit from a dual band router if Im going to use a wired connection?

You have 2 different issues. The first is your total internet bandwidth. If you are using it all up then the only real solution is to buy more if you can.
Otherwise you must get some agreement to share there really is no magic solution for lack of bandwidth someone will not get what they want.

If you can run ethernet it is always the best option but it still does not increase the total bandwidth you get from your ISP. It does eliminate the wifi interference that causes lag spikes in games. If you can get the ethernet cable run then it will far exceed even the best powerline devices. It depends on the effort involved to run it.....I have no issues cutting holes in the wall patching and repainting but that is not a option for many people.
