I have a chance to buy a AFM @ $2000. It's in good condition and I
might be able to get the OP to lower the price (I happen to know that it
needs to be sold).

For those of you own a AFM, how do you like it? Is this a good price to
pick one up?

If I clean this bad boy out, would I be able to trade it for the likes
of a STTNG, WW, or TSPP?

Opinions welcomed 😉

Thanks.

Chris

I'll take it if you decide to pass on it. 😉

I think if it's in nice shape when you sell it(no cabinet fade, nice
playfield, etc, etc) you should be able to get $3,000 plus for it.

A HUO TSPP is going for around the same thing $3,000-$3,200.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my AFM(trade for a nice
TSPP).

Any way you look at it $2,000 is a great price for one !!

It was fun while it lasted, but I guess I'm
partial to the "sequel" for home use.

Don't care for it at all. Put mine back
on the street to whore some more...

(It still makes decent money.)

Chris unless there are major mechanism or cosmetic difficulties this
seems to be a very good price. Come and play mine, or the one in Lyons,
or the one in the new mall arcade up here. That should convince you to
make such a purchase. Probably my favorite game. Dave

Just buy it!

If you don't like it, I'll trade you or buy it off you.

Addiction my ass, Chris. It's only an addiction if you sleep with them
instead of your wife. If that be the case, I'd say you're in trouble.
Otherwise, just buy it. If it's in any kind of decent shape, $2000.00
is a great buy.

after cleaning out, without having seen the AFM:

STTNG: yes.
WW: yes.
TSPP: no.

I'll do the obligatory "Sounds like a horrible deal, skip it...where it
is it? etc. et.c" post...

Archived from groups: rec.games.pinball (More info?)

I have one on ebay right now http://tinyurl.com/92vfj and I've had two
people ask if I'll do a straight swap for HUO LOTRs.

If you shop it well then I don't see why you can't get a TSPP in
exchange.

Archived from groups: rec.games.pinball (More info?)

buy it, after you clean it you can sell it for 3,000 or use that value
towards a trade...

Grab it. That is a killer price for an AFM.

Buy it and fix it up. Once you getting playing nice you may not want
to trade it for those others so fast...

Its a good deal on a great game.

Ok, next question (that the price book doesn't awnser) is there any
wear or problems that I should look for?

stuff to look for....
severe wear around the SOL hole, insert wear on the "Return to Battle"
insert.
cracked ramps, burnt out strobe, missing saucers.
faded cab, drill holes in cab, and the obvious.

at $2K, u could pretty much buy site unseen.

good luck,
Jeremy

Excess wear at the Stroke of Luck hole.
Wear behind the drop target under the main mothership saucer
Chipped inserts below the SOL are common
Do the LEDs around the mothership saucer work?
Version 1 ROMs beat the pop bumpers pretty hard. Later versions
reduced the power a bit.

I've found it to be a pretty robust game.

Ok. I guess it's time to try to schmooze it off of the OP :)

Yes. Yes I know. But I'm running into two problems..

1) I'm a CHEAP bastard :)

2) I'm starting to store these monsters at other peoples houses.

Isn;'t this crossing the line to addiction? 😉

Only if you NEED to buy and you can't. Otherwise it is still a harmless
hobby...

Yep, that's it.

John!

Well, I have yet to land a wife, but the girl I'm a-courting right now
thinks I'm a bit overboard.

At least my money is mine to spend right now >:)

Add to the fact that I don't have any storage room right now, and I
might end up sleeping with it :)

If I only had the time right now to shop up some of my other pins and
get them sold off

You know, I was warned. I was told "Once you buy one, you can never go
back".

I think this hobby needs some big ole warning signs.

In Neon.

When you sleep w/ it, as always, wear protection. ; )

And yes, now we've crossed into addiction.

Like what?

Are you telling me that AFM is an easy pin? Wiggling a flipper at
anyone who passes on the street?

Is it a pin of the night?

I like pins that put up a bit more of a fight. :)
