COMPUTER GODS OF TOMS HARDWARE! PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON ME! I promise this isn't my first stop. I've tried everything I possibly could find to fix this and this is my last stop before setting it on fire.

Computer is an Asus Q500A laptop running windows 8.1.

If I set the Audiobox as the input device in either audition or audacity both say "device failed to open" when trying to record. I even tried a copy of audacity that was recompiled to allow ASIO and it allows me to select the device as input but when recording the cursor just blinks instead of moving to the right and showing the wave form.
So here's what I've gone through so far.
-When plugged in device manager says "Descriptor request failed"
-I've installed every audiobox USB driver that I could possibly need
-I've tried updating all of my generic usb hub drivers
-I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device and drivers a million different ways
-I've gone into powershell and ran chkdsk an chkdsk /f/r/x with no luck (Bud that did fix another problem I had)
-I've ran CCleaner to clean up my registry
-I've tried uninstalling the device and all drivers, then deleting all registry entries related to it, then reinstalled
-I've tried the ASIO4All driver to try and run it on that in both adobe audition and audacity
Here's the crazy part. I have a toshiba dynadock for when I want an extra display and stuff on my laptop and if I plug it into one of the 4 USB's on it the laptop recognizes it but only on one specific port. Even crazier is every time I unplug it the port that it works on moves and I have to find it again through trial and error. But either way all programs still say failed to open and I really need it to work without the dock.

I am absolutely at my wits end with this thing and have no idea what else I could possibly do to get it working. Tomshardware has never failed me before so I kneel at the feet of the computer gods to hope and beg and pray that someone here can please PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS!

Assuming it's the Presonus Audiobox? Which model?
You shouldn't use Asio4all as they have fine working drivers you can download from Presonus and that should be the only driver you need for both Windows sound and asio driver for your DAW.
I run an Audiobox 44VSL btw.

First thing to try is to remove every audio related driver on your system and install just the Official Presonus driver for your specific device.
If it doesn't work, you may want to try a clean Windows Install, preferably Windows 10.
If still doesn't work, it's time to test the Audiobox on a different computer to test if it's a faulty device. This should be easy as it is external.

I'm not quite sure what model it is. I've read every piece of text on it and none of them seem to say the model. But it is a presonus audiobox USB. So what is the best way to identify and uninstall all drivers related to audio? Should I also clear any registry entries for those drivers as well? I have already tried the box in another computer and I didn't have any software on it to try and record with but it did immediately recognize it on the device manager which is more than I get get my laptop do when directly plugged into it.

Most likely a software issue. Could you go to Presonus website and look at the models to identify yours.
As a last resort, do a clean Windows Install and install just the official driver from Presonus, no unofficial drivers or asio4all.

That was the very first thing I did when I started this process. I ahve installed, uninstalled, and re-installed that in every possible way and still get "Device descriptor error" unless I plug into a USB hub and then into my computer. It recognizes fine but still says "failed to open" when I try to use it.
