first of all, here is my system:
Amd fx 8350
Asrock 970 pro3
nvidia gtx 970

so,
yesterday i was trying to get Hackintosh installed to my pc, and after hours of checking out how to fix some problems i got, i finally got it installed but graphics performance was VERY poor, so my best bet was just updating my hackintosh, was running on mavericks and did those updates.
Now, i did use the chameleon bootloader, and after going there again it refused to boot, tried everything, it just starts displaying all the normal stuff that goes on a verbose boot that is still displayed over the bootloader (not just black screen with white text) and then the screen just went black and rebooted.
at first i was like, oh well i <mod edit> up my installation, let's just reinstall that, but the bootloader can't find any kernel and i didn't get the normal menu i got other times from niresh where it did find the kernels, etc.
Now i tried to install ubuntu over it so the bootloader would be gone, but everytime i try to install windows it says: Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device.
Now well i can't do anything right now.
I disconnected the hard drive where hackintosh and the bootloader was installed on, but still have the same error.
Anyone knows a fix for this?
thanks

btw sorry if posted in wrong section, didn't find something that fitted.

You're trying to install Ubuntu now? Or Windows?

At what point are you prompted to "reboot and select proper boot device"? If it's at installation stage (Windows), you'll probably need to format the drive via Diskpart before you can proceed - your drive will be formatted for MacOS.

As for receiving the same error with the drive disconnected..... I'm not sure I understand. What error are you seeing? and again, when?
With the drive disconnected, unless you're performing a boot override (F8 etc, depending on the board), it's likely searching for/expecting the MacOS bootloader and completely ignoring any USB/Disc you have installed. Try amending the boot priority in your BIOS (And of course, ensure your USB is bootable)

Updating a hackintosh would never fix problems, it could add new ones. Even worse, if you are using an AMD system it means you are not using a vanilla kernel. You can't update under such conditions.

Anyone knows a fix for this?

Since you have been playing with Ubuntu and Windows you probably made a mess out of your harddisk partition scheme. Use a partition tool to delete all partitions and start from scratch.

If graphics performance as poor you probably needed the nvidia web driver.

O well with ubuntu and windows i didn't change any partitions at all, i was just trying to install one of those to get rid of the bootloader but none of them booted, windows said no boot device and ubuntu just went black.
how do i btw delete all my partitions? but the harddrive into another computer and delete it like that?

What are you trying to boot into Windows from? If using a USB, did you ensure it was bootable?
You should be able to boot into the Windows install environment, launch an elevated command prompt & then format the drive as required.

Ubuntu's not my area of expertise, so not sure there.....although I know similar can be done.

well, i'm using usb but i'm not totally sure if it's bootable, it should.
I used the windows 8.1 iso before and worked normal, and got it on the usb using win32diskimager

o well I forget to mention anyway that i just want to install windows again.

Ok, will try using with rufus as soon as i get home.
