Hey guys, I have a long read for you. I'm having an issue where when running ArmA 3 or Valley with my Saphire R9 290xs, my PC will shut off, and reset. I had the rig custom built for me, and was ripped off pretty bad by the guy that built it, but it's a good PC nonetheless. It came with a gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H motherboard (Micro) using DDR 3, with 2 Corsair 4 gig vengance (8 gig total) 1600 MHz ram cards, a Intel i5-3340 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3 fans, one pulling, one pushing, and one for the CPU, a 500 watt PSU using molexs (no PCI-E cables, sad I know) and integrated graphics. I specifically ordered a i7, 16 gigs of ram, GPU (but there was none at all) blah blah doesn't matter. Anyway, the PC would still run ArmA III on standard at 20 FPS. Ordered a Saphire R9 290x, and sent the guy my PC and card, it came back with one of the PCI-E to molex adapters plugged in, the card was in the PCI-E x4 slot, and the back of my case was busted out. I didn't even attempt to try the card, instead took it out and told him I need a new PSU like I had already stated, he sent a 550, and of course it did nothing as I expected. Ordered a Corsair silver standard HX850 PSU from ebay and put it in, ran my PC no issue, but the card didn't work. At all. Tried everything in the world for a week till I gave up, but had already ordered an additional 3, because I am building two more PCs, and had a replacement for the broken one sent to me. Well they worked. (Sorry for the back story, but I want to lay everything out so you guys are best informed of the PC's situation). I immidiately ran ArmA using default drivers, played with the settings and maxed everything out except view distance, which was to 2200 max, 1200 objects, and 140 shadows, and got a solid 60 FPS. Ran the card for about 30 mins, and my PC shut off and reset. I went ahead and tried again, it took about 15 the next time. This continued 6 times, so I updated the drivers. It ran smoother, and went longer, about 2 hours, but it crashed. Tried different maps, etc, some wouldn't crash at all, like Utes and Stratis, but Altis and Chernarus kills it. So I tested to see if I raised the clock speed up to 1300 MHz, it died in 5 mins. So I raised power intake by 15, fan speed to 100 and the GPU's clock speed 15%, it ran excellent, till it crashed 15 mins later. Swapped cards, same thing happened. They stay very cool, around 60 to 80 degrees C on arma, 40 to 45 C on anything non-demanding. Fan never goes above 45% (I had it on quiet and uber, both have this issue. But less often on uber) Then I set the temp down to 85, and decreased the power intake by 15% and increased fan speed to 20 - 65% threshold, 10% above uber standard, and the card ran all day long, playing the first part of the ArmA campaign (Again). I got on Altis, it crashed on the first mission. In a fit of rage, I unplugged my PC and opened the case up, and I felt like I was standing over a running sports car engine that was commuting the past 3 hours. Everything was super hot. My PC had never got even slightly warm till I got the card, now everything is super hot when running ArmA at least. I tried reinstalling ArmA III 3 times, and even re-imaged my PC. No difference. And on Valley, I get 55 - 90 FPS, usually stays at 62 to 75, and no issue or frame drop, then it'll crash. Sorry for the wall of text, but I wanted to state everything about it in hopes someone would have an idea. I'm only guessing faulty PSU or overheating. I'm building two more PCs, one for myself (way better than this one) and plan to liquid cool the new one, because I'll be running 3 cards in crossfire, one for my girlfriend and one for one of my best friends, but they are barely started and won't be finished till Jan, after I move. So I cannot use them to do any alternate testing, so I am stuck with this. By the way, it does not BSoD or anything. It acts as if I turned it off and back on. If anyone even reads all this, and has an idea, I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. (One more thing, this issue never happened before I installed the card, it would only kick me off the game randomly saying my driver crashed)
