Question After logging on PC shuts down soon after

Hi all,
I have just finished building my new PC. When installing windows 10 the PC would randomly restart. I eventually managed to get a clean install and now have windows installed. When I log on it works for about 30 seconds then the screen turns blank and the lights on the pc stay on. I then have to power off the pc using the on off switch to restart. Any help is much appreciated,

You'll need to look at your PSU and identify it. You're having a power off problem and the specifics of the power supply is one of the most important bits of information for a lot of PC problems.

It’s an old psu about 5 years from and old build
Do you think I should replace it anyway as my first port of call

Depends what it is. If it's a top-notch PSU, it's likely fine. If it's a cheap, low-quality one, then it would be the first place I look given that it ought to be replaced in that case.

Yeah it was a cheap one.
Any recommendations for a new one

The newer Corsair CX series tends to have the least expensive PSUs worth buying. 550W would be fine for you.

Yup, that's a solid power supply. Never hurts to have a quality power supply protecting your parts and if it stops your shutdowns, so much the better.
