so i decided to go intel for now. amd has some good processors but in mmos and rts....games i play the intel just seemed the best thing out there for me right now.

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Quad Core 6000K
Coolermaster Hyper 212, 4 Copper Heat Pipes, Extra Quiet CPU fan
Sapphire HD 7850
ASUS P8Z77-V LX, Onboard Video, DVI & HDMI, X-Fire, SATA3, USB3.0, GB LAN
8GB (2x4GB) PC12800 DDR3 1600 Dual Channel
1000.0 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA3 6GB/s 64m Cache
Realtek HD digital audio (onboard)
Ethernet network adapter (onboard)
PowMax Black Mid Tower ATX Case w/ Front USB
Case Fan 80 mm DC fan
Antec Basiq 500w Extra Quiet ATX Power Supply w/ 6pin PCI-E
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit DVD w/SP1
using optical from old rig

i would like to oc to at least 4.2 as long as my cheap case dosent hold me back.

would taking the side panel off help to keep cooler? =)

anyway i can always upgrade to a top tier card in the future if i feel it neccessary, but i dont think ill have to anytime soon.

im coming from an athlon core 2 duo e6600 2.4
9800 gt
3 gigs ram on a 32 bit vista platform-lols

Solution
its a nice upgrade, not what i would have gone for, but a nice build either way.
no, keeping the side panel open does not help, proper cable management and enough fans do, make sure you have an intake fan and an exhaust fan that work together to draw cool air on one side and blow hot air out the other side.

well see now you have to tell me what you would have done differently

truth be told i'm not a fan of intel, they're quite expensive power/money-wise... i would have gone for an AMD FX processor and ramped up the GPU with the leftover, especially on a gaming rig.

surprisingly i dont totally disagree with you. i was veeerrry on the fence about going am3+ with at least a 6350. what it came down to was the type of games i like to play. mmos, rts (total war) fpsmmos (planetside 2) those specific games just run better on intel. cpu intensive games is something im cursed to have as my favorite genre. i do agree if i just liked all the AAA blockbuster titles out there, i imagine there would be little to no difference as gpu would be more important.

huh, funny, the quotes went, but what i wrote got deleted... guess i'll write again...
anyway, i share the same tastes as you, i almost got myself an i5 and a geforce 660 2 weeks ago, until i saw some very intresting benchmarks of the 8350 beating the i5s and even i7s in many intensive games, now i have an 8320 and a geforce 760 and very happy with it.

any advantage the i5 might have (if any) in any game would get blown away by a better graphics card.
