After RAM upgrade from 4GB to 8GB, physical memory usage won't exceed 50%

I have an Asus k53e notebook running Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit that I just upgraded the RAM on, but I haven't had any improvements in performance. In System, it recognizes the new RAM (8.00 GB, 7.78 GB usable) but the machine just doesn't use it - only the base 4GB. I've been monitoring the performance in Task Manager, and instead of having system lag at ~100% physical memory usage, it now lags at ~50%, and won't exceed 50% ever. In other words, the new RAM isn't being used. Any ideas what's going on?

Processor: Intel i5- 2430M @ 2.4GHz (x4)
New RAM: 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3-1600, DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered, NON-ECC, DDR3-1600, 1.35V
Not sure what other system specs might be needed.

This doesn't explain why the system would lag at only 50% memory usage. The extreme lag I'm experiencing seems to imply that the system needs more than 4GB.

Well lower the virtual RAM by a lot or turn it off completly.See if it helps.Sometimes Windows saves RAM by writing the data that was supposed to be on the RAM to the Hard Drive instead, but Windows isn't perfect and it can just deicide: Oh hey I see you have 128GB of RAM! Good for you, I am just going to crap your performance and write it to the Hard Drive.Windows is a dick.

I'll give that a shot, and see if there's any difference. Thanks.

Hi there Monstergrin. I am sort of having the same issue as I have the same notebook. The ASUS K53E model.

How did you get this issue resolved? I'm currently using "Automatically Manage Paging File"

Thanks
