This error came immediately after expanding the size of the volume containing windows with EaseUS Partition Manager(I was going to dual boot off the drive, decided not to). I expanded only the back end, did not touch the front of the volume. EaseUS said it said it needed to restart to complete the changes, and this message appeared after EaseUS completed the change.
After trying every fix I could find online for this error (0xc0000225) with no success, including trying bootrec /fixboot (I get "access denied"), I decided to take a look at each volume. It shows C: as my 2.5tb raw partition (have the 5tb drive in 2 partitions), and raw because it's encrypted; however D: shows as my windows drive, and I can even navigate to the system32/winload.efi file. I tried reassigning c: to t: and d: to c:, but on reboot it restored them to c: and d: and gave same error.
I disconnected the drive that was incorrectly showing as C:, and now the correct drive shows as C:, and I can navigate to winload.efi, with the path the error gives saying it is missing (system32\winload.efi); however, the computer still gives this error.
After getting the right drive to show as C:, I tried the following:
bootrec /fixmbr - worked
bootrec /fixBoot - access denied
bootrec /scanos - Found c:\Windows
bootrec /rebuildbcd - identified C:\ windows, asked if I wanted to add it to boot list, said yes, and got "the requested system device cannot be found"
Then tried chkdsk /f, got "windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected"
I really don't want to have to do a fresh install, I have spent countless hours configuring windows10 to the way I prefer it, and don't want to have to again. If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it. If more information is needed, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
