Hey all,

Just looking to buy a PC from Aftershock and did some customization on it. I'm just trying to keep the PC with little RGB and trying to use BeQuiet fans where possible so its not too noisy. I've already got a spare hard drive to use on top of this, trying to keep it below $3,500 AUD. Any swaps and bad compatibility advice would be great! It will be used mostly for gaming of all sorts.

Looks OK compatibility wise but if you are after quiet operation, plan on a better, aftermarket CPU cooler, OEM is pretty noisy.

Get the X3D. Yes, it matters, and when you're spending that much already another $200 AUD is nothing.

That said, I would strongly recommend you build it yourself, not pay them. It's basically Legos. Watch a few YouTube videos, ask questions, you'll be fine.

This is what I sorta threw together, I have built one before. Just not sure if I should really bother again. Haven't also checked CPU cooler size to see if it covers the ram

Forget Noctua anyway. Thermalright all the way. Put Noctua fans on it later if the stock aren't quiet enough for you, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Corsair Vengeance is trash, literally 70% of the RAM related threads I see in the last couple years it's Corsair Vengeance. Had issues with a recent kit myself, then started seeing the pattern. G.Skill, Team Group, whatever, just not that. (DDR5 issues don't seem as common as DDR4 issues, but I still wouldn't.)

That also feels like an insane price for a 4070, even a Ti, but I don't know Australian pricing other than that y'all get screwed on a lot of it, so I'm going to assume you're not paying $400 over average for a model that's OCed a little out of the box or something.

Case is mostly personal preference, don't see anything wrong with anything.

Flicked through a few changes, GPU prices are horrid atm but I don't feel like waiting.
Just changed to thermalright cpu cooler and g.skill 32 DDR5-6000mhz

If it's between a 7900 XT and the 4070 Ti I'd go with the 4070. If you can swing the 7900 XTX for about the same money as the 4070 Ti (or with the help of a sale, less) I'd do that. None of the cards considered are bad, but Nvidia's feature set is a little more desirable. For how. AMD is making strides, and after initially regretting not saving up almost twice as much for a 4090 I'm now glad I went 7900 XTX.

If you’re open to amd cards this would save a little as well. The 4070 will have better ray tracing.

I'm open to AMD cards, found a 7900 XTX for only about $50 more than the 4070ti

(Changed where they are buying from for ease for me, only like an extra $100 total)

For that, I'd do it. The XTX trades blows with the 4080 and beats it in raster, loses out in raytracing, but it's still faster than a 3090 there. Plus, 24GB VRAM. AMD is making strides with their up sampling tech, and it feels like only a matter of time before FSR truly rivals DLSS for quality and speed... Plus they seem much less likely to cut off future versions from current cards to force people in to buying newer cards, as Nvidia has.

My strongest advice is to join the AMD Vanguard program as soon as you get the card - having access to the beta channel has been a life changer at times and completely turned my initial (largely negative, coming from a problem free RTX 2080) impression of the card around completely. Can't say more than that due to NDA, but trust me. It's worth it.
