Agh! New CPU!

I have an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard that I've been running with an Athlon XP 1600+ for months with no problems.

I just bought an XP 2600+ (Barton), installed it, updated my BIOS to the latest version (v1012) and the system is still running at 1600 speeds. I kinda figured the Asus would automatically detect the new CPU and make the appropriate settings. Apparently not.

Could someone tell me the right BIOS settings for this CPU? I believe the three important items are...

CPU Speed
CPU Frequency Multiple
Memory Frequency

I suspect that CPU Speed is derived from the other two, but past that I'm clueless.

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Get into your BIOS and check your FSP speed, and set it manually if need be. IIRC, the 2600+ takes 166MHz, making the FSP 333MHz. Remember, you also need to have DDR333 or higher installed, our you will be stuck running slow because your RAM is bottlenecking your system.

Some system specs might be useful too.

Cheers!

Unlike Intel, AMD has no bus speed detection pins, you usually have to set the bus speed manually.
