agp 2x ..agp 4x voltages??

i think they are the same something like 3volts.
but i believe it exists a optionial pro slot with a 12volts addon.

just 1.5 volt for the AGP 4x?
i thought it was all the same value of 3.3volt.
that seems curious because newest graphics card need more power.

Yes, more power but not more voltage. Remember Watts = Volts x Amps. With lower voltage you need more current to supply the same power. The new cards need a whole lot of current.

Also if you install a 3.3V card into a 1.5V AGP and boot up it will kill the motherboard. But all new video cards do 1.5V, if nothing else there is a jumper on it to set between 1.5V and 3.3V (I think those jumpers were on old cards with goldfinger or whatever they call the cut out on the part that you slide in the AGP slot).

With a few exceptions the 3.3 volt cards won't fit the 1.5 volt AGP slots. The universal cards, dual voltage, will fit.

It's safer to check first. If your motherboard's AGP slot has the double key it should be safe. The 3.3 volt-only cards just won't fit. I don't think there is much to worry about other than Voodoo(x) cards. However, I repeat, better to be sure about the voltages.

yes but globaly graphics card need more watts to work then they need more amps whatsoever and even a lot more if there is a decrease of the voltage.

Yeah that's what I was saying LOL that goldfinger or whatever they call the cut it makes the 3.3 fit into a 1.5 slot.

Only if I could remember where I was reading about this, it was just about a week ago or so.

Part of the specification for AGP is switchable voltage. Starts at 3.3 volts and steps down to 1.5 volts for the higher speeds of 4X. As I mentioned I can't remember if 1.5 volts is used for 2X.

AGP 3.0 with 8X will be using 0.8 volts.

do u think i can use my asus riva tnt 16mb (agp 2x) on a very new MSI 645 ultra ,, will that damage the mobo ??
I don't know but why would you want an old, slow graphics card in a shiny new motherboard?

AGP4x is supposed to use 1.5v, while AGP2x uses 3.3v. But all the cards are backwards compatable. And a few AGP4x cards were still using 3.3v, I think the Hercules GeForce2 cards were among them.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
