AHCI mode is deactivated in Samsung Magician

I noticed that Samsung Magician shows that my 840 Pro is not connected in AHCI mode. However, in BIOS I can clearly see that SATA configuration is in AHCI mode, as well as all the drivers for AHCI from Intel are in place.

What am I missing?

Bug in Samsung Magician?

Awesome it worked!

My 840 Pro was connected to ASMedia 6 Gbps port, which actually should support AHCI mode and only AHCI mode as per the mobo's manual, I wonder why it doesn't in the real life...

But anyway, I reconnected the drive to the Intel port and Samsung Magician can finally see it in AHCI SATA mode. Also, it bumped up all speeds and overall benchmarking score by ~35!:)

Thank you!

Do you know how come performance got bumped up by 35% just by switching from one brand of 6 Gbps SATA port controller to a different one?

All current generation SSDs need to be connected to native 6Gb/s ports to achieve advertised Read/Write speeds.
If you have an Intel chipset based motherboard then you need Intel 6Gb/s ports for maximum performance. If you have an AMD chipset based motherboard then you need AMD 6Gb/s ports for maximum performance.

3rd party 6Gb/s controllers such as ASMedia and Marvell can't handle the speeds of the latest SSDs.
