Does any of you use airpods in desktop pc?
I have no issues at all using them in my laptop, but when I connect my airpods 2 to my desk pc with Tplink UB400 Bluetooth dongle, it stutters and sound terrible so I cant use them. If I could get a fix for this would be awesome.

Just that the standards are different - should have emphasized that more..... Apologies.

This connection: PC [USB port] < ----- TPLink UB400 Dongle < ~~~~ Bluetooth ~~~~ > Airpods ?

Might work to some extent but if not a a supported configuration then problems are quite likely.

These Airpods?

https://support.apple.com/kb/SP791?locale=en_US

What was the reason for using the TPLink UB400 dongle?

FYI:

Note Q2 (Qestion 2). Red text.

= = = =

Also: sometimes dongles do not work well if directly placed in a host computer's USB port. A USB extension cable can be used to move the dongle out and away from the case. That is not a direct TRS type mismatch and does not encompass cable issues per se.

Makes sense when you explain in that way, thanks. I guess I have to buy a bluetooth antenna through pcie.

Yes, those are my airpods

Could you explain this: ". That is not a direct TRS type mismatch and does not encompass cable issues per se. "

I have tried extensions for the dongle to get it away from the case but it doesnt work for some reason.
Also, I use tp link ub400 because it was like $10 and had good reviews. It works awesome with everything, except airpods

I read the support link you sent and It seems like the problem is that the dongle I have doesnt support "peripheral role", which is the appropiate to the bluetooth headset. Could that be the issue?

I would start here with Apple:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208718

Read all but to look ahead scroll down to "non-Apple device".

However, i would also look for additional "how to's" that match.

https://www.tomsguide.com/how-to/how-to-connect-airpods-to-a-pc

Read through the procedure first, then "walk through all of the screens that you can get to and actually see.

Look for differences between the link and what you see on the PC.

Some screens may not appear until you have made an entry. However, if uncertain about anything - "cancel" is your friend.

Then look for other similar links and likewise "walk through" the pairing process.
