Question Alien M14X has a thin line down left side.

My daughter's old gaming laptop has a thin line down the left side and I was wondering how to fix it. I found it in the shed covered in dust. It has a broken left hinge which may have contributed to the line being there, maybe it pulled the display connector out a bit? Anyway, I'm going to try and fix the hinge and the line in the display so I thought I had better ask for some advice first before I start to order the parts I'm going to need?

The line in the display, if it's on/in the display itself then you're going to need to replace the panel. If the line you're seeing is only seen when the laptop is powered up, then yes the issue is with the panel. If the line only appears after you've entered OS GUI, then the issue will most definitely be with a bad/faulty/failing GPU or corrupt GPU drivers.

Images of the issue you're seeing with the display would help us two fold. As for the hinge, they often crumbled after a few years of use.
