not really. a PC is still not as user friendly as a console. the console crowd want to pop a disk in and play. not pop a disk in, install, setup controls, display, sound also maybe install new GPU,PSU,ram etc etc to play a the latest games

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]PC Gaming for the poor. I'm perfectly fine with my 2 GTX 580s 3Gb versions in SLI, 2700k @ 5Ghz and 2560 x 1600 res IPS panel thanks. Get 90fps on Ultra in BF3 at my res.[/citation]

LOL your setup isnt even that spectacular yourself. Ive seen rigs at school that would blow yours away. Getting 90fps on Ultra is simple dude, i get that with 3 470 gtx's at that resolution. Now if you had a 3-5 monitor setup with 3d then you would have something. Otherwise GTFO with your non existant Epeen.

What does size have to do with anything?

You could put slied gfx cards in there or Xfire cards in there. Imagine the possiblities if they converted a laptop mobo into one of those things with dual laptop GPUs. Dell has the money to do that and this looks interesting to say the least.

Now there's an idea, using a laptop motherboard... That could work and without much difficulty in construction. It could be even smaller than current consoles since it won't need the integrated monitor or keyboard.

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]LOL I have 3 x 30' panels son, apparently your still in school as it sounds. Maybe one day you'll grow up and get a real pc and not come in here and still say your in school lol. Grow up get a job see the world serve your Country do things instead of spouting out sludge from your 19 yr old crap hole.[/citation]

You were called out on the performance of the 3GB GTX 580 and that should have been the end of it unless you want to show evidence against his/her claims. Regardless of which one of you is correct here your comment was pure trolling.

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]Again I have the 3Gb versions and Im just stating the facts. 90fps all ultra settings. Not two 1.5 gb versions. With one card I get 40fps ultra. The 3gb makes the difference pal. So get your S*** straight before posting jerko.[/citation]

You have to be using 0xAA or your results are more of the upper end of the framerate spectrum instead of an average from benchmarks I'm seeing.
http://www.techspot.com/review/481-amd-radeon-7970/page6.html - 34 FPS for 1 580
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/HD_7970_CrossFire/5.html - 32.9 FPS for 1 580

GTX 580 3GB benchmarks are hard to find. http://www.behardware.com/articles/844-1/geforce-gtx-580-3gb-vs-1-5gb-test-sli-and-surround.html. The 3GB frame buffer makes very little difference, even at that resolution. Even with the 3GB frame buffer, overclocking, and perfect SLI scaling, I would still care to guess you'd be getting closer to 75 FPS with 4xAA. But maybe you have proof. You know the golden rule, pics or it didn't happen. It's more plausible than I originally led on so for that I'm sorry

consoles will die soon enought it will be replaced by cloud gaming you only get the out put to a box in to your tv or monitor and you controle a server no hardware updates only monthly fee. but ill be holding on to a real pc in to the last ;b ofc this will not happen for some time but it will happen when we all got 100Mbs/100mbs standard and got around 10ping to servers.

... We have had 100Mb/s standardized for more than a decade. We now have gigabit Ethernet standardized for home computers and 10Gb standardized in enterprise servers and such. We have 40Gb Ethernet and 100Gb Ethernet too but they are still very expensive compared to 10Gb Ethernet.

That and the fact that people have been saying similar things about cloud computing for years tells me that your wrong, especially since many people use their consoles for more than gaming. I know several people who use the Blu-Ray player in the PS3 for movies and some consoles for Netfilx too. Granted Netflix could probably be done jsut as easily with cloud computing but hey, you would still need something connected to your TV be it an external system or an internal that allow it to use that cloud computing.

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to call bullshit on that. The standard in the United States is no where NEAR 100mbps down.

Oh sorry my misinterpretation, I thought you meant Ethernet not the internet speeds. If you're interested you can move out of the USA to other countries because other countries like Sweden have 1Gb internet connections or almsot as good as that.

if they got a quad core, amd or intel, and a mid range gpu, for this price, it wouldnt be bad.

what they need to think of is branding. most people, if they have a good experiance with a brand they tend to stick with it.

i personally had an alienware (still useing the case) that was cheaper to get from them than to build because i had a 10% off and a 500$ off cupon that took money off before the 500$ so it was really a 700$ discount. that build lasted till the psu died (about 5-6 years of constant use) and motherboard with it.

The funny thing is although im a student, of which i already have a degree in IT-Networking. Im now working towards an IT-Management major.

I dont care about your monitors because honestly 2560x1600 is a dieing breed because of UTVs and UHDTVs coming right arround the corner with resolutions that make your monitor look like a toy.

Im just saying justifing your purchases by berating and belittling peoples income is extremely childish and makes you look like a Dbag while you supposedly think you are inflating your already nonexistant epeen even more. I will probably make more than you anyway once i graduate and ill be happy because i wont make fun of other people that dont have money. I dont treat money as a joke and i work very hard in life to achieve everything including my education and paying for my education.

Here's another little tidbit. Indians make their own PC's and do a lot of custom work. The guys at Alien ware launched in India amidst plenty of fanfare a couple of years back. I was actually there for one of the launches and even went to the exclusive store that opened up near my house. The guys at the store raved and ranted about how amazing Alienwares are and how they will change PC gaming in India. Well.......to make a long story short. They don't offer desktops in India anymore( within a year!!!). No one buys their laptops either ( we prefer our cheaper Asus' thank you).
And the worst part was that the sales team always treated customers like kids. They would talk about crossfire and liquid cooling as if it was rocket science and charge double of whatever market prices were.
I remember that a i7 920 with a crappy GTX 260 sans monitor was 1.3 lakhs!!!!1 ( 2000 USD). We actually built a couple of machines with better tech for 60% lesser. And worse, you could not even customize the PC's online.
I am sorry Alienware, but when you actually become serious about gaming and customers please take off the kid gloves.
I bet that a llano with a 6670 in Xfire would perform similar and cost half..

And oh my god....don't forget the crappy Dell service. Everyone who has had a Dell PC has ripped his hair out if something has gone wrong.. Christ....

Hey just a bit curious here.....how much of a price premium does Alienware have in the US and other countries???? Its double in India. Can my friends in the USA give me a rough indicator of prices there????
