Alienware M11x not detecting graphics card not actually solved

Yesterday I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my laptop. Everything was working fine and I had installed all the correct drivers. Then at about 10 pm last night when I try to play minecraft I get about ten fps. So I try to reinstall the drivers, but it says that my graphics hardware is not detected. I have the Nvidia GeForce gtx 335m. It's not showing up in display adapters in the device manager, but in other devices it says there is an unknown device.

That unknown device looks like the card, it seems to have malfunctioned. Did you get the drivers from Nvidia or Alienware?

sorry i accidentally made that the solution. i've tried drivers from both places.

I think your card is faulty, i'd contact Alienware support.

I think I know what is wrong. You need to update your BIOS. Go to this page and scroll down to find the BIOS updating utility. I've dealt with this laptop with another user who was having a somewhat similar issue. Here is the thread if you're interested in reading.
