I have an Alienware M7700 laptop with a 3.8ghz processor, 7800gtx, and 3gb of ram. The dvd drive has never worked and I have replaced it, and messed with the bios and still cannot get it to function. My only option now is to get a new motherboard for the laptop. It currently has the d900t clevo motherboard. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy one, and also did they make a newer board that will fit in this laptop that will support the core 2 duo. Thanks
Thomas

wrong. you can find these motherboards very easy and have been able to for a couple years now. not as many on ebay as there used to be. but there still out there, usually between 300 and 500 dollars depending on new or used. ive replaced these motherboards several times for people in the m7700 systems. there notorious for going out. i keep blowing it off as overheating issues as the m7700 system runs very hot.

here is one for $400 on ebay right now: search ebay item 220245774669

heres a killer deal for presumably refurbished for $169: http://www.ztronics.com/motherboards/alienware-laptop/alienware-aurora-m7700-amd-motherboard-d900k/flypage.tpl.html

this site is also great for random alienware parts. they have a lot of stuff: http://www.laptopking.com/searhbrandresults.asp?brand=alienware

ok hope that helps someone.
