I don't know the specs of this monitor, but I doubt it's better than any of the previous Dell monitors. Probably uses the same LCD panel, just a different case.

I just bought a 23" Samsung 2048x1152 LCD. I miss my old HannsG with the 4 port USB port on the side.

Read the article? 2 ms response time and 80,000:1 contrast ratio. Go look those up and maybe you'll know something.

Quality 22" Ultrasharp monitors from Dell have been on Sale recently for as low as $200. I doubt these would be any better than the Ultrasharp monitor, probably just paying a premium for the name.

And I agree with the above posts in regards to not having a monitor capable of 1900x1200. People that buy AW desktops are buying systems that should more than handle 1900x1200 and have spent more than enough money on their desktop to be able to afford the slightly larger monitor.

>>Low Input-Lag for Intense Gaming

Thank God!!! My Dual Samsung 22"s have been holding me back so much from really intense gaming becaues they have so much input lag. I need more jigga-watts!

Also Dell's suck. I use their 24" expensive monitors for CAD at work and they get lines on them sometimes or get all fuzzy for a few hours every couple of weeks. And they are brand new.

If i had an alienware I would be embarrassed to play on such a small low res screen. 24-30" or bust baby. 1080p is for sissy pants.

Looks exactly like the Dell monitors I bought for my company, except it is all black. I can't imagine anyone dishing out the money for an Alienware system, then getting a 21" monitor. I currently have two 26" NEC monitors and I can't imagine going to anything smaller.

Dynamic contrast = biggest scam in monitor marketing. True contrast is what we care for, not random numbers pulled out of someones arse.

The only difference between this monitor and others that cost half as much is 3ms of response time, which is hardly noticeable.

This is aimed at the same group of people who do not they can put a PC together for half the price and twice more powerful than the ones you can find at Alienware.

This one is slightly better than my 2ms Asus with the swivel stand and 2x HDMI. I only have tilt and 1x HDMI. The rest is pretty much the same. I got mine for $180 months ago...still chuggin' without a hiccup.

i just picked up a Sony GDM-FW900 24" CRT widescreen Monitor for 200$. These are the real gaming monitors imo, 2304 x 1440 @ 80 Hz in a 22.5" view area with no ghosties and amazing colour is somthing to behold. They retailed for 2300$+ when new. Can this alienware monitor even run 120hz refresh rates? whats the big deal?

Looks just like a Dell monitor to me. Shouldn't cost more than $175ish though. Those specs aren't impressive at all... who cares if you can view full HD on a little 21.5" monitor??? It ain't worth $150+ more than a std one to me. I could get a 23.6" 1080p for about $200.
Screw Dellianware!

Two things catch my interest in this.

Contrast and cost.

Anything I'd expect form Alienware would have been several times the price. $290 isn't horrid for a screen of said resolution, though not great. The contrast is nice though.

What am I using?
ViewSonic VX724. Awesome screen if you can get around the 1280x1024 resolution thing.

If I were to finally upgrade from my VX724, it'd have to be a 2560x1600 screen. I know that colour quality and refresh rates drop at higher resolutions, regardless, I see no need to upgrade until then.

[citation][nom]loudr1[/nom]HannsG 1920x1200 28" baby! Best money I have spent on my pc in years.....[/citation]
I hope it doesn't die like mine did cause they had some of the worst customer service I've ever dealt with

$299 is cheap. with 80k:1 contrast, 2ms lag, and 1920x2080 via hdmi this isnt a bad panel for the price: Just as long as the quality is top notch. Well, that and it had better last for years.

I've had a viewsonic vp201b 1600x1200 for years. $600 and they still havent come down. In some cases you get what you pay for. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

Maybe they will get a display unit working with the alienware at BB. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
