Alienware to Custom Computer

Hi guys,

So I currently have an Alienware Aurora R4.
I don't think I'll be able to sell it for a desireable amount of money, so I'm planning to take the CPU, GPU, hard drive, closed liquid cooling loop and the memory and buy the extra necessary parts (motherboard, PSU) and stick them in the Enthoo Pro case.
The thing is, I can't afford another CPU after buying the two needed parts (if there's anything I've forgotten, please say) and I'm wondering if there's a motherboard that supports the i7 3820, which I currently have, and the i5 4690k that I will buy when I can afford it.
So, to summarise:
Things I have:
i7 3820
1TB Hard Drive and a 1TB laptop SSHD
GTX 680
Alienware Closed loops Liquid Cooling
8GB of memory that came with the alienware

Things that (I think) I will need:
Case (Phanteks Enthoo Pro) (£87)
A motherboard that will support my 2nd gen i7 3820, and a CPU for the future (i5 4690k)
a PSU

My budget is: around £300

Any other suggestions are appreciated!

You cant get a mobo that will support the i7 3820, and an i5 4690k (different sockets)

I think i remember reading somewhere a guy that did the same thing as you, and had problems with alienware's closed liquid cooler, and how it was bound to the original MOBO, wouldnt work on anything else... Might be wrong, but am almost 99% sure that that's what the problem for him was.

Unfortunately, the 3820 i7 is a LGA 2011 cpu, and the 4690k is an 1150 socket, so they will not be compatible. I recommend buying this 212 Evo for cooling because you can swap it out for the 4690k and its motherboard when you can buy it.

Why did you propose to him a PSU?
A hyper 212 evo... is value for money, BUT if OP has high profile RAM sticks, the 212 will be in the way, and touch/bend/squish them... AND why would he buy it for his current system since it already has a liquid cooling system...?

Best thing for OP to do would be probably to wait a little, save up a little more cash.. since buying a MOBO that would support that chip wouldnt be compatible for an i5. Might as well buy the mobo/chip/case in 1 go.

I think I will do as Xavier has said and save up to buy a CPU/motherboard/case in one pop.

Just one question...is it at all possible to put the whole contents of my Alienware into another case? Without changing any parts except the case?

I personally wouldn't chance it on the offchance that dell has built the thing ground up with unique proprietary connectors to their system, fans, front panel, etc..
