This is nothing. Go to clevo.com and check out their top end laptop (they actually make all the laptops for Alienware, Sager, ProStar, EUROCOM, and the former Imperial which I loved 😛)
They have their new i7 based version either out or coming soon. I am just hoping they will start to make some AMD/ATI high end models. Haven't seen since the D900t, D9**T etc days with the X2 which killed their horrible P4s at the time.
How about an AM3 based version with PH2 955 and a dual HD4890 1GB with 8 GB of DDR3 and 3 Voliciraptor 10K 2.5HDD in tri raid to boot. Then AMD can boast.

Seriously immature.

I mean, you could mention that his crappy integrated graphics couldn't run Crysis at 800x600.

Or better yet, make a joke about Steve Jobs raping his wallet.

But that's just retarded.

[citation][nom]w4ffles[/nom]Can you say back breaker?I wonder if that number includes the weight of the power brick.[/citation]

WHAT?! you have got to be joking right? 12 freaking pounds? are you smurfs? or just 2 feet tall and lifting a few coke cans is a huge hassle. if it had like a 20 inch screen i would so buy it with all the upgrades.

I'm pretty sure that Clevo doesn't make Alienware, especially seeing as Alienware is owned by Dell.

I hate Alienware... THEY SUCK BECAUSE THEY ARE SOOOO EXPENSIVE AND THEY BREAK!

I'd Rather buy an HP and then a newer version next year than the price of 1 Alienware.

Good luck to those that buy this junk. Their support sucks too! Don't get a warranty it's not worth it.

Actually, thank god, the laptop is NOT made by dell. Dell does not make ANY laptops. They resell them. The actual hardware is made by ODM's like Arima, Clevo, Quanta, Compal. Everyone does this, HP uses Compal and Quanta. SO, fortunately, the acquisition of Alienware by Dell had a minimum effect on the laptops. The M17 for example, is just an Arima W840DI. The M9750 was an Arima W830. Dell, HP, Gateway - these are all just reseller companies. They just brand the product and sell it to the customer instead of the ODM dealing with the customers directly.

Just my 2 cents.

I Dont really care who makes it. Evryones tech support sucks. Show me a HP where i can get those specs and ill buy that one. Personaly i favor Asus brand but they cant give me those specs either 😀 there was one close with 4970x2 but it only had a gig of video ram. course 8 gigs of system memory and a couple terra drives in raid were nice. Im one of those retards that wants a desktop replacment. When im off out of town for work i still wana play my damn games! 😀

The m17X are HUGE!, not really portable. No thanks, I'll stick with my m15X and single 9800GTXm. I would get jealous if they released a BLACK m15x with a single 280GTXm. Now that would be the bomb!!!! Just add the extra battery bay and you are soooo portable.

macbook pros don't come with integrated graphics

Actually, they do:
15-inch at-a-glance specs:
...
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics
...
17-inch at-a-glance specs:
...
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics
...
http://www.apple.com/mac/whichmacbook/

Now, they also have discrete graphics (the Macbook, the entry level model as $1400, is just integrated), but I just felt like proving you wrong. And either way, if I want to play Crysis on a Laptop, I can get much better performance, and a larger screen for $2,800.

Macbook pro

17-inch at-a-glance specs:

* 17-inch LED-backlit display
* 2.66GHz or 2.93GHz (300$ extra)Intel Core 2 Duo processor
* 6.6 pounds; 0.98 inch thin
* NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT discrete graphics
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics
* Three USB 2.0 ports
* FireWire 800 port
* ExpressCard/34 slot
* Built-in battery
Wow such an awesome deal for 2800$....
Can't even choose a quad core oh and for 2800 the harddrive is only 320gb 5400rpm. Upgrading to 8gigs of ram is a cool 1000$ because it only has 2 ram slots.
Not that it matters, with the 9600m graphics card you won't be able to play anything past low anyways.

If your going to waste this much money on a laptop, you might as well wait for the quad core Nehalems that Intel will release for laptops latter this year.

If 12 pounds breaks your legs then maybe you should go get some exercise and build up some muscle. 12 pounds wouldn't be that bad. Plus you really aren't supposed to have laptops on you laps.(a great mystery to me is why they are called laptops when you can overheat it by putting it on your lap >_>)

I love how everyone focuses on the weight. No one's (now, I skimmed, so I may have missed it) mentioned about the sort of heat this thing would be putting out with dual 280M's. Seriously. You could play Crysis AND cook eggs at the same time. And I don't mean chicken eggs...
