I have searched and have only found answers regarding space, the one thing i have not found was, how storing your data(games, images, videos, etc..) on your operating drive effects both OS performance and data.

im no expert, but right off the hop, i feel as if this is a dumb question, and that it wont effect anything negatively, but i know that its recommended to only store shortcuts on your desktop and not games, files/folders, and so i am on the fence about this.

regarding the information above, is there a benefit to storing your personal data on a separate drive rather then your OS drive?

on OS drive: pros & cons?
separate Drive: pros & cons?

Solution
Personally I keep mine separate so that I am sure the OS has room to "breathe" If you get the main drive with the OS filled it can seriously slow the system down. I generally try to run my games off of SSDs as well and for the moment the OS is on a HDD

cool, thanks for the reply, i figured the OS would slow down after packing the drive with a bunch of non OS files and such, i know mine is all slow and messed up, hardware seems fine and i had upgraded my graphics card, it only took 11 seconds to boot up the first day i got the computer back in 2008, now i have to wait a good 20 minutes to make sure everything is done loading and calmed down to use it lol(sad face), i even stop a bunch of unneeded crap in the startup list.
