Seemingly out of nowhere about 2 months ago all directx 11 games I play crash within ~1 min of being played regardless of how high the settings are. No problems with anything else (directx 9, 12, OpenGL, Vulkan). I've tried reinstalling windows with an older version of the GPU driver, underclocking, running games in compatability mode, setting energy settings to performance mode, running GPU drivers without the catalyst software, resetting bios settings to default. I don't have another GPU on hand to swap it out with for testing unfortunately.

System:
GPU: MSI RX 480 4gb
Windows 10 Pro 21H2
MOBO: Asus Z170-A
CPU: i5 6600k
16gb Ram
Corsair 650w PSU
Monitor: LG Ultragear 144hz 1440p

Solution
Take a look in Reliability History and EventViewer.

Either one or both may be capturing error codes, warnings, or even informational events just before or at the time of the crashes.

Look for errors that appear when you know you were playing directx 11 games.

Also:

Try running the built in Windows Troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may may and fix something.

Also run "sfc /scannow" and "dism"

Solution
If your having unreal, Xbox pc and unity games dx11 hang up found the prob. At last Found the real Problem. Unreal has a contract with Nvidia to make sure the cpu runs more to keep the gpu down. It has been more common with the new 40eds out now. They do this to make sure the graphic card stay cools. Found the Data that back it up. At this point Unreal and Unity Better wake up and fix this or data will be let lose. Look at the POWER Pull on a hang on you CPU on a hang Crash.
