Hi,

A few days ago I came back from the gym and started my pc back up to play a game and all of a sudden it gives me a directx error. I tried opening different games and none of them will open or work properly. Most of them give the same directx error. I'm pretty sure I didn't download or do anything with my pc at all, in fact I think I played a game that same day in the morning. Not just games but my pc in general has also been acting slow after this.

Things I've tried:
- restarting pc
- updating gpu drivers
- downgrading to older gpu driver
- tried to upgrade to latest directx version, told me that I already had the latest version
- downloaded a program to see drivers that need to be updated > none
- defragmanted C drive
- reinstalled windows (quick version where I keep all my data and apps)

PC specs:
windows 10 home 64 bit
intel core i5-8400 2.80ghz (6)
12gb ram
geforce gtx 1060 3gb

I'm at a complete loss as I don't know what could've been the action to initiate all these problems. Any suggestion would help a ton since I've already tried a lot of things I found on other forums and youtube videos, which none of them seemed to make things better.

Hi sorry for the late response, I posted this thread right before I went to bed.

Every game gives me a different kind of error message but most of them come down to a directx error.
Here's a few examples:
- League of legends: An unknown DirectX error has occurred and League of Legends cannot start. Please make sure your video card is using the latest vidfeo drivers from the manufacturer
- Cuphead: Failed to initialize Direct3D. Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
- Rocket League: Your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets, which is required to run this game.
- Wallpaper engine: video error occured c00d36fa

I've tried looking up solutions for these errors individually in hopes of finding a general solution for the other games aswell, but no luck. Black ops 3 seems to work fine for some reason by the way.

Side note: I've also realised that when I open task manager, the drive seems to be at 100% or close to it whenever I start a game but it doesn't seem to be a single specific task causing the problem

Tried this before aswell but it tells me that everything is fine (same on display 2)

I tried reinstalling league of legends but no change. I also tried removing the CMOS battery directly from my motherboard and putting it back in after a minute or so but no luck

Did a pretty long run of ~15 minutes. No opengl errors and most of the time around 70°C. Looks like the gpu is fine

I've tried but whenever I try to download a version of directx it tells me I already have the latest version of directx and I don't need an install. dxdiag tells me I have directx 12

Downloaded 9.0c from the windows website. It says Directx 9 can only be downloaded for these windows OS. I've been running all of my games for no problem for the past 2 years but suddenly out of nowhere I get these errors and I can't start any game at all. Would've been weird if I was running my games without dx 9 for the past 2 years

this one works
so u have gtx 1060 3GB, same as me, easy to comapre than...
yours:
DXVA2 Modes: Unknown
mine:
DXVA2_ModeMPEG2_VLD DXVA2_ModeVC1_D2010 DXVA2_ModeVC1_VLD DXVA2_ModeH264_VLD_Stereo_Progressive_NoFGT DXVA2_ModeH264_VLD_Stereo_NoFGT DXVA2_ModeH264_VLD_NoFGT DXVA2_ModeHEVC_VLD_Main DXVA2_ModeHEVC_VLD_Main10 DXVA2_ModeMPEG4pt2_VLD_Simple DXVA2_ModeMPEG4pt2_VLD_AdvSimple_NoGMC DXVA2_ModeVP9_VLD_Profile0

and your GPU is listed twice
u have only 1 GPU or two?
of only 1, use DDU to uninstall your drivers and install new, they seems to be partialy broken

Only 1 gpu. I tried DDU a few days ago with no luck, but I'll try it again and tell you how it goes

https://justpaste.it/6rili no skip
I tried DDU and after deleting the driver I could launch a game, though at max 8 fps. After installing the newest driver I got back to square one with the games not launching again.. I've also tried restarting my pc with only 1 monitor connected but it didn't help

Yeah that's what I was thinking, even though no one else on geforce forums has been having this issue. I'll try an older driver tomorrow.
